Tara Yarlagadda is a freelance writer, program manager and multimedia storyteller based in Los Angeles. Most recently, she worked as a science/nature reporter for the website Inverse, covering everything from the climate crisis to pet health to the science behind movies. She’s also written on art, culture, and other issues for Bedford + Bowery and has worked as a fact-checker for The New York Times.

Her beats include culture, film/TV, human rights, media, food, travel, and books. Tara’s work has been published in sites like The New York Times 360, PBS NewsHour, Paste, HowStuffWorks and The New Food Economy. She is also an avid photographer, screenwriter and budding novelist. She worked as a business manager and script reader in the entertainment industry for the screenwriting company Shore Scripts.

Prior to working as a writer, Tara served as a Field Associate for The Leadership Conference on Civil Rights, managing campaigns on immigration, education equity, and women’s rights. She received an M.A in Literary Reportage from New York University’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute and a B.A in Political Science/South & Southeast Asian Studies from University of California – Berkeley.
