Tara Yarlagadda is a freelance print and multimedia reporter based in New York (originally from the rolling hills of the San Francisco Bay Area). She currently writes on art, culture and other issues for New York Magazine’s Bedford + Bowery. She also previously worked as fact-checker for The New York Times.
Her beats include human rights, culture, media, food, travel, film/TV, and books. Tara’s work has been published in sites like The New York Times 360, PBS NewsHour, Paste, The New Food Economy and Medium. She is also an avid photographer, aspiring television writer and budding novelist of middle-grade/YA books during her off-hours.
Prior to living off instant ramen as a freelance reporter, Tara received an M.A in Literary Reportage from New York University’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute and a B.A in Political Science/South & Southeast Asian Studies from University of California – Berkeley.
